PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum porous body for suitably use as an electrode for a cell and an electrode for capacitor having a communicating pore with less surface oxygen amount, and a manufacturing method thereof.SOLUTION: A manufacturing method for a metal porous body 3 includes a step for applying a negative potential to a metal layer 2 in a state where a resin porous body 1 composed of a urethane foam having a communicating pore with the metal layer 2 formed on the surface thereof is immersed in molten salt, while heating the resin porous body 1 to a temperature lower than a melting point of the metal, and decomposing the resin porous body 1. In the step for decomposing the resin porous body 1, means to prevent oxidization of the metal layer 2 is provided.
