PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify and display an area where abnormal region exists in an observed image.SOLUTION: This image processor for an electronic endoscope is configured to perform image processing for a signal from an image pickup element of the electronic endoscope to generate an observed image. The image processor includes: a means for determining whether or not a signal from each pixel of the image pickup element is equal to or more a predetermined luminance and saturation; a means for determining whether or not a difference between a pixel value of the pixel determined to have the predetermined luminance and saturation and the average value of pixel values of peripheral pixels of the pixel is equal to or more than a predetermined threshold; an area dividing means for dividing the display area of the observed image; a means for determining whether or not the pixel determined to have the predetermined threshold or more occupies the divided area at a predetermined percentage or more in the area divided by the area dividing means; and an area display means for displaying the area determined to occupy at the predetermined percentage or more on the observed image.
