PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support device for risk avoidance allowing certain avoidance of a collision between one's own vehicle and a peripheral vehicle. PSOLUTION: An ECU (Electronic Control Unit) of the support device for avoidance calculates a risk (a front collision risk) that the own vehicle collides with a preceding vehicle from behind and a risk (a rear collision risk) that a succeeding vehicle collides with the own vehicle from behind based on inter-vehicle distances between the own vehicle, and the preceding vehicle and the succeeding vehicle, and traveling behavior (a stagger or the like) of the preceding vehicle and the succeeding vehicle, obtains an inter-vehicle position of the own vehicle to the preceding vehicle and the succeeding vehicle such that the collision risks become equal, and controls an accelerator control part 8 and a brake control part 9 according thereto. The ECU calculates a risk (a passing risk) that the own vehicle passes the preceding vehicle based on the traveling behavior of the preceding vehicle, and controls the accelerator control part 8 and a steering control part 10 such that the own vehicle passes the preceding vehicle when the passing risk is lower that the front collision risk.
