PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide multiple nodes connected via links that transmit WDM signals and electric terminal devices connected with the respective nodes to set a newly provided standby path, which is to be a switching destination of a newly provided present path set between two predetermined electric terminal devices, not to overlap the new present path but to minimize the number of pass links.;SOLUTION: The standby path setting method of a WDM transmission system sets the number of relievable paths for the number of paths passing a faulty section as a relievable rate, to decide whether only the presently provided standby wavelength set for the link can have a better relievable rate for an arbitrary single link fault or not when the presently provided standby path and the newly provided standby path for the presently provided present path pass a common link, and to set the newly provided path pass so that the preliminary wavelength of the presently provided standby path and the newly presented standby path is shared in the link when the release rate is better.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
