PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing a metal-clad optical fiber, the apparatus allowing formation of a plating of a predetermined thickness without increasing a plating tank size, and simplification and stabilization of power feed to the optical fibers.;SOLUTION: The metal-clad optical fiber production apparatus according to the present invention is configured in a manner so that an optical fiber 1 is fed out by winding it around the circumferential surfaces 8a and 9a of first and second rotors 8 and 9 in a plating tank 7 that is filled with a plating liquid 5 and in which a first electrode 6 is disposed. Thereby, the optical fiber 1 is run reciprocally over a number of times. Further, a voltage is applied between the first electrode 6 and the second rotor 9 to supply power to the conductive layer 2 of the optical fiber 1 wound around the circumferential surface of the second rotor 9.
