PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a graded index type multimode optical fiber that is used for a high-data-rate application, has reduced bending loss and high bandwidth, and has a reduced clad effect.;SOLUTION: The multimode optical fiber includes a center core having an alpha-index profile, an inside clad, a depressed trench, and an outside clad (for example, outside light clad). Generally, an alpha index profile of the center core has the minimum refractive index at the radius of the center core corresponding to the refractive index difference to the outside clad.
