COMMUNICATION METHOD AND SYSTEM BETWEEN INITIATOR AND STORAGE CLUSTER USING SCSII/O REFERRAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-path function via Small Computer System Interface Input/Output (SCSI I/O) referrals between a server and a storage system.;SOLUTION: A storage cluster including storages 106, 108 that are at least two target devices. For example, when the storage 106 receives an input/output (I/O) including a data request from a server 100, if the data included in the data request is stored in the storage 108 not in the storage 106, it transfers a SCSI I/O referral list to a server 102. The referral list includes first and second port identifiers for respectively identifying the first and second ports of the storage 108. When the first and second ports of the storage 108 that is the target device are specified by these identifiers, it becomes possible for the first and the second ports to be used as access ports so as to access the data requested by the data request.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
