PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel anticancer agent using a newly found function of human placenta derived α-fetoprotein and a method of inhibiting cell division.;SOLUTION: The anticancer agent includes human placenta derived α-fetoprotein as an active ingredient. The α-fetoprotein is known as a marker for liver cancer and it has been found that noncancer cellular α-fetoprotein and fetal α-fetoprotein have a function of inhibiting cell division. Since the anticancer agent and the method of inhibiting cell division use human placenta derived α-fetoprotein, a therapeutic effect with reduced side effects can be expected.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
