PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stave for cooling a furnace body of a shaft-furnace type metallurgical furnace, which can reduce heat loss occurring when the stave made from copper or copper alloy is used.;SOLUTION: The stave to be used for cooling the furnace body of the shaft-furnace type metallurgical furnace includes: the main body 1 of the stave made from copper or copper alloy; and a passage for passing a refrigerant therein, which is formed in the main body 1 of the stave and has a wall surface covered with an insulation material 4.
