PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas barrier-improving additive which can thin the thickness of a planar filler, can prevent the development of cracks in a film and can give an excellent gas barrier property to the film. SOLUTION: This gas barrier-improving additive is characterized by having a swelling inorganic laminar compound whose particle size is arranged in a liquid containing a dispersant by a centrifugal classification method.
