PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic member with a metal layer which has high joining strength.;SOLUTION: The ceramic member with the metal layer is provided with a ceramic body and the metal layer provided on the surface of the ceramic body. The ceramic body contains Al and O and further contains at least one or more kinds of oxides of specific transition elements selected from the third transition elements (Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn) and the forth transition elements (Y, Zr, Nb, Mo, Tc, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, Cd). The metal layer has a first layer joined to the surface of the ceramic body and contains the specific transition element as an essential component and a second layer joined to the first layer and containing the specific transition element and at least one kind of Ag, Au, Pt, Cu, Pd, V, Hf and V, wherein the content (mass%) of the specific transition element in the first layer is higher than that in the second layer.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
