PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon material which is composed of a single-walled carbon nanotube, a multi-walled carbon nanotube, or a carbon nanofiber, and which is formed by controlling a carbon isotopic ratio arbitrarily, and an identification mark using the carbon material.SOLUTION: The carbon material is composed of the single-walled carbon nanotube, the multi-walled carbon nanotube, or the carbon nanofiber, and is composed of the single-walled carbon nanotube, the multi-walled carbon nanotube, or the carbon nanofiber having a controlled carbon isotopic ratio, being synthesized by using a gas including carbon of which the isotopic ratio ofC andC is artificially controlled as a raw material. The identification mark uses the carbon material.
