PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foamable polystyrene resin particle which imparts a foamed molded product excellent in foamability, thermally fusing property, and heat resistance.;SOLUTION: This foamable polystyrene resin particle includes: a resin comprising a component derived from an ester made from 10-20C polycyclic terpenol and methacrylic acid, and a component derived from a styrene monomer; and a volatile foaming agent, wherein (1) the resin contains 5-20 pts.wt. of the component derived from the ester, based on the total 100 pts.wt. of the component derived from the ester and the component derived from the styrene monomer, (2) the resin particle has a center area of an absorbance ratio Y (D1730/D1600) in a range of 1.00-4.50 (wherein D1730 and D1600 each mean an absorbance at 1,730 and 1,600 cm-1, respectively, in an infrared absorption spectrum by an infrared spectroscopic analysis), and (3) the resin particle has a surface layer of an absorbance ratio X (D1730/D1600) equal to or smaller than the absorbance ratio Y.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
