PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-cycle engine having a small exhaust gas value, with a compact constitution. PSOLUTION: This two-cycle engine (1) can be divided into four sectors (34, 35, 36 and 37) extending in parallel to the cylinder longitudinal axis (24). The first sector (34) has scavenging windows (12 and 14) of first scavenging passages (11 and 13). The second sector (35) sharing a border with the first sector has an exhaust port (8). The third sector (36) sharing a border with the second sector (35) has scavenging windows (12 and 14) of second scavenging passages (11 and 13). The fourth sector (37) arranged between the first sector (34) and the third sector (36) has a taking-in port (9) to a crankcase (4). The first and second scavenging passages (11 and 13) are guided by one common sector (35 and 37) sharing a border at an interval to a separation surface (29) between a cylinder (2) and the crankcase (4) in the cylinder (2).
