PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for synthesis of single-wall carbon nanotube (SWNT) where SWNT can grow up in a parallel direction to a substrate; a preparation method of the catalyst for SWNT synthesis, which can control the dispersion density of a catalyst metal dispersed and supported on the substrate to be nondense; and a production method of SWNT, in which carbon monoxide is used, and which is easy, low-cost, and can be carried out at normal pressures and low temperatures. PSOLUTION: The catalyst for synthesis of the single-wall carbon nanotube in which the catalyst metal 3 is supported on the substrate 2 is provided.
