PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subtitle signal system, its program, and its control method for controlling a subtitle signal so that any subtitle can be prevented from being superimposed on a video such as a commercial. SOLUTION: A timer 12 checks the present time, and checks whether or not the present time is a prescribed time before the broadcast start time of a program (commercial) attached with a flag. When any pertinent program is present, the timer 12 outputs a set signal. A timing signal control unit 13 which receives the set signal turns a timing signal 'H(ON)'. When the timing signal is turned 'H(ON)', an erasure signal and a padding signal stored in a storage device 21 are selected, and not a sub-title signal but the erasure signal and the padding signal are outputted.
