PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a run-up length as the run-up length necessary to achieve detonation of a fuel-air mixture is comparatively long, and to promote growth of flame kernel around spark or an ignition source in an existing pipe structure having a smooth wall surface, though in a pulse detonation combustor, the mixture of fuel and an oxidizing agent such as the air is ignited, the combustor is transited from deflagration to detonation, and a detonation wave is generated to have thrust by using the detonation wave.;SOLUTION: In a pulse detonation combustor chamber 100 having an ignition chamber 10 and a detonation chamber 12, a first cross-sectional area of the ignition chamber 10 is larger than a second cross-sectional area of the detonation chamber 12. Flame is generated in the ignition chamber 10 immediately after the flammable air-fuel mixture is ignited.
