PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a salient-pole type synchronous rotating machine having a structure capable of further suppressing an increase in the temperature of a field coil (a rotor coil).;SOLUTION: A generator 1 includes a stator 2, and a rotor 3 which is disposed to be coaxial with the stator 2 and has salient poles 4 on the outer periphery thereof. The salient pole 4 has a salient pole trunk 6, field coils 7 wound around the salient pole trunk 6, a plurality of first heat dissipating boards (8a to 12a) arranged between the field coils 7 adjacent to each other in the radial direction D of the rotor 3, and a plurality of second heat dissipating boards (8b to 12b) arranged between the field coils 7 adjacent to each other in the rotation direction R of the rotor 3. One ends of the first heat dissipating boards (8a to 12a) are projected out of the outer peripheral surface 7a of the field coils 7, and the other ends of the same are brought in contact with the second heat dissipating boards (8b to 12b).
