PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quality inspection device and a method of quality inspection for detecting respective patterns on a multiple diffraction grating recording medium.;SOLUTION: The quality inspection device includes a transmitted light application section for applying transmitted light to the multiple diffraction grating recording medium from the back side thereof; a holder for holding the recording medium; a polarizing element, provided in the transmitted-light axis direction of the recording medium to polarize the transmitted light by the recording medium; a polarizing element rotating section for turning the polarizing element, through a prescribed angle centering on the optical axis of the transmitted light by the recording medium; an image photographing section including an image reader reading the several patterns by using the transmitted light by the recording medium according to the prescribed angle; an image processing section for arithmetically processing the several patterns read by the image photographing section to compare the processed patterns with a previously recorded reference pattern, thereby performing quality determination; and an output section for displaying patterns arithmetically processed by the image processing section and the result of the quality determination.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
