METHOD FOR INSTALLING SEISMOMETER IN EARTHQUAKE OBSERVATION WELL

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for installing a seismometer, which is capable of solving problems such as breakage of a direction setting key and attenuation of seismic waves. PSOLUTION: A seismometer 30 is installed by setting a casing pipe 1 forming an earthquake observation well without a direction setting key 22 attached on the inner surface, in the ground; hanging, in the casing pipe 1, a liner hanger system 4 having an insertion hole 25 from the upper part into which the lower end of the seismometer 30 to be installed is inserted, and having the direction setting key 22 attached to the insertion hole 25; inserting a direction measuring instrument 50 with a groove 51 formed at the lower end into the insertion hole 25; discriminating the direction by fitting the groove 51 to the direction setting key 22; adjusting an engaging groove 34 of the seismometer 30 to the discriminated direction of the direction setting key 22; and inserting the lower end of the seismometer 30 into the insertion hole 25.
