PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently manufacture a raw material in granular or flake form in which a composite reinforcement (powder, particle, fiber) is uniformly dispersed in a metal as a matrix and to manufacture metal matrix composite material parts with high productivity using this raw material.;SOLUTION: The metal matrix composite material can be manufactured by: mixing a molten metal (including alloy, the same applies to the following) 5 and a reinforcement 6 in a crucible 1 by means of agitation including rotation and vertical motion, subjecting the molten metal 5, in which the reinforcement 6 is dispersed, to rapid cooling and solidification into a thin strip form and then pulverizing this thin strip into granular or flake form; or, after the above mixing, subjecting the above molten metal, in which the reinforcement is dispersed, to scattering and rapid cooling to solidify it into granular or flake form. Injection molding or extrusion is carried out using this metal matrix composite material, preferably in a state where a solid phase of the above metal is contained.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
