PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the laydown in a reactor building of an ABWR plant which achieves the decrease in the number of processes required for the installation of an annular seal member on a reactor pressure vessel top head. PSOLUTION: Reactor well shield plugs 17A, 17B and 17C which cover a reactor well 7 are transferred onto the floor level of an operation floor 6 in turn by a ceiling crane mounted in a reactor building 1 after the shutdown of the ABWR plant. The reactor well shield plugs 17A and 17B are laid on the operation floor 6. A reactor pressure vessel upper lid 5 removed from a reactor containment vessel is overlaid on the reactor well shield plugs 17A and 17B. The reactor pressure vessel top head 3 removed from a reactor pressure vessel is laid on the operation floor 6 in the proximity of the reactor containment vessel upper lid 5. A space 21 which is large enough to extend the annular seal member is made between a large-object carrying-in entrance 11 formed on the operation floor 6 and the reactor vessel top head 3.
