PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information collection system that can collect state information about managed articles via a network by means of mechanically identifiable information storage media attached to the managed articles, and efficiently execute the processing of a plurality of applications.;SOLUTION: A plurality of processing terminals 101 on which applications 103 run are connected to an IC tag reader 105. The IC tag reader 105 reads tag ID information stored in an IC tag 10 attached to an article 21 of merchandise placed on a merchandise rack 20, and sends article state information comprising the tag ID information/nonresponse information and sender ID information to all the processing terminals 101 by broadcast communication.
