PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 9,9-bis(3-amino-5-alkyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)fluorene useful as a monomer for a high-performance polymer, and further to provide a method for producing the compound. ;SOLUTION: This 9,9-bis(3-amino-5-alkyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)fluorene is produced by nitrating a 9,9-bis(3-alkyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)fluorene to provide a 9,9-bis(3- nitro-5-alkyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)fluorene, and reducing the obtained 9,9-bis(3-nitro-5- alkyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)fluorene.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
