PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated cutting chip whose hard coating layer exerts excellent chipping resistance in high speed cut processing of a high hardness steel.;SOLUTION: In one of bottom layers and a top layer of a hard coating layer of a coated cutting chip, an inclined angle formed by normals of a (001) face and a (011) face (bottom layers), which are crystalline faces of crystal grains, and a (0001) face and a (10-10) face (top layers) are measured using an electric field emission type scanning electron microscope. A constitution atom share lattice point distribution graph is made based on the resultant measured inclined angle. The bottom layer and the top layer are constituted by a modified TiCN layer (bottom layer) and a modified Al2O3 layer (top layer) showing a constitution atom share lattice point distribution graph where a maximum peak exists in Σ3 and a distribution ratio occupied in the entire ΣN+1 of the Σ3 is 60% or more. The surface of the top layer is polished into a surface roughness of Ra:0.2 μm or less, and a hard coating layer residual stress reducing pattern is formed on the polished surface by laser beam injection.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
