An apparatus and a method for discriminating inflated skin of fruits and vegetables are provided to inspect the entire number of fruits and vegetables to efficiently manage quality. An apparatus for discriminating inflated skin of fruits and vegetables includes a sensor member(16), sensors, and a volume recognition controller(26). The sensor member is configured to be in contact with fruits and vegetables with a predetermined speed. The sensors are disposed at the contact surface of the sensor member with aligning its sensitivity axis. The volume recognition controller discriminates inflated skin of fruits and vegetables by using a first sensor output and a second sensor output by contacting the sensor member with the fruits and vegetables from a sensitive direction of the first sensor and the second sensor. The volume recognition controller converts the first sensor output and/or the second sensor output into a graph of relation between a time and the sensor output.
