PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide side cloth for a planting-base-forming body with which a light-weight and thin planting base having no limitation in its constructing place can be easily formed, to provide a planting base-forming-body, to provide them at a low cost, and to provide a planting formation method using the side cloth and the planting-base-forming body. PSOLUTION: The planting-base-forming side cloth for a planting-base-forming body is formed of circular knit fabric having a cover factor value of 5-20 in a constant length system based on JIS L 1018, and a rupture strength of ≥300 kpa. The planting base-forming body is obtained by charging cultured material in the side cloth for a planting base-forming body. The planting formation method comprises charging the cultured material in the side cloth for the planting-base-forming body, forming a planting-base body placed on the rooftop of a building, an asphalt road surface side or other flat surfaces to grow plants, and fixedly planting desired plants in the base body through the gap between knitting loops of the upper part face side part in a longitudinal direction of the forming body.
