PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sphygmomanometer control method and a sphygmomanometer capable of highly precisely measuring a blood pressure value by determining the appropriateness of the mounting position of the sphygmomanometer in a short period of time before measuring the blood pressure. PSOLUTION: This sphygmomanometer control method and the sphygmomanometer obtain the pulse wave of a blood flow inside a subject before measuring the blood pressure, and determines whether the position is appropriate or not for measuring the blood pressure based on the maximum value U1 of the amplitude of the pulse wave, and a ratio of the amplitude value S1 of the pulse wave under an ischemic state and the amplitude value of the pulse wave under a pulsating state.
