WDM module type Layer 3 switches and optical IP network

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a layer 3 switch which facilitates the connection, addition, or change of a WDM optical component to easily expand or rebuild an optical IP network, and also to provide the optical IP network.;SOLUTION: The layer 3 switch which transfers an IP packet transmitted and received by an optical signal using a wavelength multiplexing system by a routing algorithm comprises: a WDM module of the WDM optical component which is assigned in advance with a specific light wavelength out of those contained in the optical signal, and adds/drops a signal having the assigned light wavelength, and an optical transmitter-receiver; and a main body having at least one installation portion for installing the WDM module. The optical IP network consists of the WDM module-type layer 3 switch and a system controller. The system controller transmits a control signal to a control unit in each WDM module-type layer 3 switch via the network to control the switching over of each optical switch and turning on/off of each power supply.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
