PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite body of a segment caisson or a propelling caisson and an air mortar block, which is for use in construction of a tunnel having a multi-continuous cross section, by partly overlapping tunnels having circular cross sections, and to provide a method of constructing the tunnel having the multi-continuous cross section. PSOLUTION: The composite body 100 is formed of the segment caisson 1 having a segmental outer shell in cross section, and the air mortar block 2 mounted on a segmental portion, and set up such that the overall cross section of the outer shell is formed into a circle. The air mortar block 2 consists of a plurality of divided bodies 21, 21, etc., and both the divided bodies and the divided body and the segment caisson are connected together by fastening means of bolts and nuts each formed of carbon fibers etc. Then the composite body 100 is applied to a preceding tunnel, and an excavator for constructing a following tunnel is advanced by cutting the air mortar block 2, to thereby construct the tunnel having the multi-continuous cross section.
