Accelerometer and method for controlling accelerometer

The method involves selecting a type of a test to be performed e.g. squatt jump test, by a user e.g. sportsman, and measuring a sequence of acceleration data during test. A sound signal is transmitted at the end of the test, where the end of the test is determined by verifying a condition depending on the selected test type. A triaxial physiological muscular parameter value e.g. average force, calculated from successive measurements of the acceleration data and based on the selected test type is displayed on a display (11) i.e. matrix LCD screen, of a portable accelerometer (1). An independent claim is also included for a portable accelerometer comprising an acceleration sensor.
