The present invention relates to the preventive, inhibitory and therapeutic uses of an old platycodon extract (CK) against lung cancer induced by methylni-trosamino)-l-(3-pyridyl)-l-butanone (NNK), a well-known carcinogenic substance contained in cigarette smoke. The inventive old platycodon extract (CK) has the effect of inhibiting the expression of a proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) indicative of lung tumor cell proliferation, which is increased by NNK, a lung cancer-causing substance contained in cigarette smoke. Also, the inventive old platycodon extract (CK) has the effect of inhibiting of the formation of lung tumors caused by the lung cancer-causing substance NNK. Thus, the old platycodon extract (CK) can be used as an active ingredient for the prevention, inhibition and treatment of lung cancer caused by cigarettes.
