PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive planter box easy to make and having water permeability and water-holding ability, and to provide a method for raising plants using the same.;SOLUTION: The planter box constructed using plaster 1 is provided. The plaster 1 is obtained by adding a glue plant, bittern, etc. to slaked lime followed by compounding the mixture with waste yarn, straw, clay, etc. and kneading the resultant mixture with water to effect fluidity and then pouring the fluid into a mold where the fluid is left to stand and solidified. When soil is put into the inside 2 of the planter box to raise a plant, the plaster 1 has water permeability and water-holding ability, being effective on the plant. Slaked lime as the essential component of the plaster 1 has the effect of a calcareous fertilizer.
