To provide a single switching control circuit which is an improvement for use in multi-phase switched reluctance machine. The control circuit includes at least a first phase winding and the second phase winding, a switch, a capacitor, a diode. Capacitor has a polarity opposite to the polarity of the power supply in the control circuit. The first winding is connected in series with the switch, connected in parallel to the circuit block and a second winding. The second winding is connected in series with the parallel and diode to the capacitor. In operation, using a switch, to reroute the current to the second winding from the first winding. Sufficient energy to ultimately store to stop the flow of current in the first winding substantially charges the capacitor by rerouting current. Then, the capacitor discharges the energy stored in itself as the current through the second winding.
