PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus, a method, and a program for color gamut outline calculation, capable of improving the degree of freedom in calculation of color gamut. PSOLUTION: A device outline build up portion 1 is configured to include an upper half outline build up portion 11, a lower half outline build up portion 12, and a restricting outline build up portion 13. A parameter setup portion 3 sets up a color material total amount limiting value and a monochrome limiting value. Wherein, the color material total amount limiting value is the maximum value of the total amount of color material which can be used in order to form a color picture at a targeted color output device. Wherein, the monochrome limiting value is the maximum value of color material of a device color signal for each color. The device outline build up portion 1 makes color gamut outline of a color output device not including black consist of only outline points by a device color signal which does not exceed all of the monochrome limiting value and the color material total amount limiting value of each color established at the parameter setup portion 3.
