PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thread-cutting mechanism for a sewing machine always cutting the under-thread drawn out from a bobbin to a fixed length and simplifying the preparing work before manually cutting.;SOLUTION: This mechanism is provided with an open/close cover 19 provided on a bed 2 in such a manner that the bed face of the bed 2 on the side fitted with a bobbin 16 of a vertical shuttle 12 can be opened and closed and a cutting edge 21 for cutting an under shread provided on the rear face of the open/close cover 19, and it is constituted in such a manner that the under thread 11 drawn out from the bobbin 16 in the open state of the open/close cover 19 can be manually cut at the location at a predetermined distance from the bobbin 16.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
