PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a methane generation inhibitor for ruminant free from problems of safety, handleability, or the like, and a feed composition for ruminant obtained by formulating the methane generation inhibitor. SOLUTION: The methane generation inhibitor for ruminant is characterized by comprising at least one kind of ingredient selected from eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil, Japanese horseradish oil, cineole, iodine and cyclodextrin clathrates of these materials as an active ingredient. The feed composition for ruminant is characterized in that the methane generation inhibitor is added thereto.
