PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for changing configuration of an unshared database system without stopping the system. PSOLUTION: A method of changing the unshared database system is disclosed, the system being provided with: a plurality of database servers; a storage device for providing the plurality of database servers with a data area; and a management server having a database management system to divide a transaction and allocate the divided transactions to the plurality of database servers, wherein data areas accessed by the plurality of database servers are not overlapped one another. In the method, when the configuration of the plurality of database servers is changed, data areas to be moved are specified, it is determined whether the specified data areas can be moved, and when it is determined that the specified data areas can be moved, the data areas are moved without stopping the database management system.
