PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform exact wavelength calibration of tunable laser and simultaneously automatically perform a normalization measurement for determining insertion loss and return loss as a part of regular test setting.;SOLUTION: A converter 17 generates an optical wavelength for sweep lasers covering considered optical wave length extent, and cyclic electrical signal from a sweep optical output of the sweep laser so that the wavelength corresponding to each point of the electric signal is exactly as known. A gas absorption cell 28 and a detector 30, using a known spectral absorption line, give a calibration reference for the electric signal from the sweep optical output.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
