PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of simply and accurately determining the absolute configuration of an organic acid having an asymmetric carbon.;SOLUTION: In this method, the absolute configuration of the asymmetric carbon in the organic acid having is determined from the sign of a Cotton effect, by performing circular dichroism spectrophotometric analysis relative to a sample solution, including (1) a reagent containing a porphyrin dimer, expressed by chemical Formula (I) as an effective component, and (2) (i) an organic acid capable of coordinating with the porphyrin dimer, wherein a group capable of coordinating with the porphyrin dimer is bonded directly to the asymmetric carbon, or (ii) an organic acid capable of coordinating with the porphyrin dimer, wherein one carbon atom is interposed between the group, capable of coordinating therewith, and the asymmetric carbon.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
