PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical seal for an ozone using installation, having improved sliding property for a longer replacement cycle, and to provide an ozone water carrying pump requiring less maintenance frequencies while reducing its operating power.;SOLUTION: The mechanical seal for the ozone using installation comprises a rotary ring and a fixed ring having sliding contact surfaces formed of silicon carbide. The rotary ring and the fixed ring are formed so that their contour lines on the side of contacting liquid out of the outer edge side and the inner edge side of an annular face contact region are shaped to be non-uniformly distant from a rotational axis to make part of a sliding contact region where the rotary ring and the fixed ring have sliding contact during rotation, in contact with the liquid.
