PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic pattern recognition method, its device, an information recording medium and a composite processor capable of recognizing a magnetic pattern of a bent state and a magnetic pattern of a non-bent state which are printed on check paper by converting the peak interval of a detecting magnetic waveform acquired from the magnetic pattern into a bar interval pattern.;SOLUTION: In a step S402, the detected magnetic waveform of one magnetic pattern is segmented from an acquired detecting magnetic waveform, and in a step S403, plural peak intervals of the segmented detecting magnetic waveform are measured. In a step S404, plural bar intervals of the magnetic pattern are calculated from the measured peak intervals and each of the calculated bar intervals is converted into a 'wide' interval or a 'narrow' interval of the bar interval pattern on the basis of pattern conversion consisting of two steps, S405 and S412. In a step S409, a character is recognized from the bar interval pattern of one converted magnetic pattern on the basis of a correspondence table between bar interval patterns and characters.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
