PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact joint (called as a joint hereinafter) for connecting a hydrogen gas flow passage formation member capable of preventing surely hydrogen gas from being leaked, and a portable hydrogen flame ionization type gas detector capable of preventing the hydrogen gas from being leaked, so as to attain high safety.;SOLUTION: This joint connects the hydrogen gas flow passage formation members to be disconnectable at least one thereof, has a metallic substrate having a hydrogen gas injecting space with at least one open end, and is arranged with a ringlike sealing member comprising an elastomer in an opening edge of the metallic substrate, the sealing member is crushed to seal the hydrogen gas injecting space, while the hydrogen gas flow passage formation member is inserted and fixed into the hydrogen gas injecting space via the sealing member, so as to attain the connection to the at least one hydrogen gas flow passage formation member.
