PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microorganism support single substance having a simple structure, capable of being easily assembled, enabling a change in shape and size freely corresponding to an installation place and also enabling a change in individual microorganism support simple substance, and a sewage purifying apparatus. PSOLUTION: The microorganism support single substance 1 comprises making ceramic as a raw material, forming a connecting recess 3 on the surface of a plate body 2, providing the back face with a connecting protrusion 4, making the connecting protrusion 4 into a form enabling insertion thereof into the connecting recess 3, forming a jaw part 7 having a diameter larger than the connecting recess 3 on the base part of the connecting protrusion 4 and attaching a contaminated substance decomposition microorganism to the outer face. The sewage purifying apparatus comprises a laminate of a plurality of microorganism support single substances 1, wherein the connecting protrusion 4 is inserted into the connecting recessed part to make a space between the plate bodies 2.
