PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) for use in image data transfer to have an authentication function in a facsimile transmission/reception system using an SIP (Session Initiation Protocol). PSOLUTION: In the facsimile data transmission/reception system, the facsimile machines 200 and 400 for performing address solution of an IP address 2203 using the SIP are provided with a function of preparing an identification phrase 2205, the address solution is performed between transmission/reception terminals, also the identification phrase is exchanged, and the authentication function is added to the SMTP by using the identification phrase.
