PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose a technique capable of providing a processing effect to only a particular high frequency component regardless of a simple processing method. PSOLUTION: A high frequency adjustment component of an input digital signal is adaptively reproduced on the basis of the input digital signal. Then the lower-order bits of the input digital signal are replaced with the reproduced high frequency adjustment component to produce a signal whose high frequency component is adjusted. Thus, the information of the higher-order bits of the input digital signal is conserved in an output signal as it is without any change and the effect of the signal processing is attached to only the particular lower-order bits. Further, since it is enough to satisfy a requirement characteristic for the high frequency components only, simplicity of the processing technique and downsizing of the circuit scale can be achieved.
