PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume-reducing and solidifying device and a volume-reducing and solidifying method both capable of effectively volume-reducing and solidifying various foamed synthetic resins to be volume-reduced or the like while preventing the generation of noise and improving the durability of the device. PSOLUTION: Both ends of a shaft 25 of a sending screw 24 are rotatably supported by a frame and a bearing holder. A compressive screw 60 is intersected and arranged on the discharge end side of the sending screw 24 at a position near to the shaft 25 ahead of the screw end of the sending screw 24 and offset from the shaft core of the sending screw 24.
