PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for detecting recommended information that is capable of recommending information which will likely interest a user and which belongs to a concept different from concepts already known to the user.;SOLUTION: The similarity between the interest ontologies of a user A and the interest ontologies of other users is calculated and a user corresponding to the interest ontology that assumes a high value of similarity is extracted. If the user A evaluates an instance that does not belong to the interest ontologies of the user A but belongs to the interest ontologies of the extracted user, a predicted value of that evaluation is calculated. In the interest ontologies of the extracted user and in a class that goes back on the hierarchy of the interest ontologies of the extracted user from the hierarchical position of a class to which the instance with a high predicted value belongs, the number of retrospective steps of the class up to the class that belongs also to the interest ontologies of the user A is calculated as an innovative degree, and an instance with a high innovative degree is output to the user A as recommended information.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
