Method of sterilizing and cleaning a water supply system, in particular a water supply system in swimming and bathing pool facilities, and apparatus for carrying out the same

A method for sterilisation and cleaning of water supply systems and areas, in particular in treatment plants, pipe systems and in swimming and bathing pool units and a device for carrying out the same are disclosed. An embodiment of said method is characterised by the steps: (1) establishment of a closed circuit between two points of the water supply system or the water supply area, (2) introduction of a given amount of a disinfecting material in the form of an aqueous rinsing solution comprising a chlorine oxide, a halogen and/or a peroxide for disinfection and cleaning, (3) disinfection and cleaning of the pipes, filters and filtration materials in the system including charcoal filters with or without adsorptive properties, with periodic circulation of the rinsing solution in the closed circuit at defined time intervals, (4) draining and disposal of the aqueous rinsing solution and (5) re-establishment of the original water circuit.
