PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form optical-attenuation characteristics in a linear shape, to inhibit the dispersion of optical levels of each wavelength by optical attenuation characteristics, and to enable a long-distance transmission.;SOLUTION: In an optical communication device, optical attenuation means 1aa and 1ab to 1an attenuate the light signals of each wavelength in response to optical attenuation data output from a control-data conversion means 1f. An optical multiplexing means 1b multiplexes the light signals. An optical amplifying means 1c amplifies the multiplexed light signals. A control-data output means 1d outputs light-signal control data corresponding to differences among the optical levels of each wavelength at the input stage of the optical amplifying means 1c and a set setting optical level. A data table 1e converts the light-signal control data into the optical attenuation data so that the quantities of the optical attenuations of the optical attenuation means 1aa and 1ab to 1an are formed in the linear shape to the light-signal control data.
